Shantiway is a 2012 custom designed 52-foot catamaran built in Key West, Florida at Tropical Solutions USA, inc. at the Key West Boatworks shop by Bruce Darby. It has a 22 foot beam, and has a draft of 28 inches, but only 18 inches with the kick-up rudder system in use. The modern schooner rig stands 40 feet above the water. It is powered by twin 9.9 Yamaha 4-stroke, high thrust engines. It has 2 fully battened, full roach identical sails with 2 reef points and a working jib, all built by sailrite. Shantiway is perfect for day charters or island hopping throughout the Keys, Caribbean, and points beyond. All lines lead to the cockpit for easy, single-handed sailing. Shantiway has been sold and is happily cruising the caribbean waters around the Yucatan Peninsula...The plans for Shantiway 2 will be forthcoming, a comprehensive, ocean-going world capable vessel designed for the ultimate safety and efficiency for a short handed crew.
